Our principles
Knock Knock runs on five rules. They decide what the app does, and above all what it will never do.
Intention first
Every card says what it is in big letters: an invite, a favour, a comeback, a thank-you. Nobody has to guess what you meant.
The card's title is the first thing they see when they open the link.
No is free
The “no” is the same size, shape and dignity as the “yes”. It's never red, and it never sets off a sad animation.
After a no, the sender sees “Their answer is clear, no follow-up.”
Silence isn't a no
For cards that expect an answer, you pick a window. When it runs out, the invitation gently closes, without ever calling the silence a refusal.
“Reply whenever, no rush.” is one of the options.
Nothing moves without both of you
No step kicks off on its own. Mirror questions need a yes from each side, and a decline never says who declined.
A positive answer never starts the game by itself.
Success is when you actually talk
Knock Knock is here to open a door, not to keep you in the app. No counters, no streaks, no nudges to come back.
The thread only keeps milestones, like “First yes”: no counters, no streaks.
What we won't do
- Show whether a card was opened.
- Give a relationship a score, a streak or a ranking.
- Use red, even for a no or a block.
- Follow up on your behalf.
- Offer the person receiving a card anything to buy.
- Sell a subscription, a free trial or a promotion.
- Run advertising or analytics trackers.
